High School teachers and career coordinators may contact PNCI about visiting our training facilities in Portland or in Tangent. Our priority for scheduling goes to our school partners implementing the Career Connections curriculum.
Guest Speakers
Dozens of apprentices have volunteered to be Ambassadors for PNCI. With plenty of advanced notice we can ask their contractor to release them from work to speak in your classroom.
Job Shadows
Shadowing an apprentice during the hands-on portion of their class is reserved for advanced CTE students from Career Connections partner schools. Individuals will be matched with a small team of apprentices working on an assignment (building soffits, framing a roof, learning metal stud framing, etc.). Maximum will vary between 8 and 12 students, depending on how many classes are open to visitors on Wednesdays in Portland and Thursdays in Tangent. School staff must be on site with the students.

Class Field Trips
Apprenticeship classes meet Monday – Thursday, so Fridays work well for field trips. Depending on how much time you have to be at PNCI, your visit can include a building tour, an Apprenticeship 101 presentation with Q & A, and a hands-on workshop with a PNCI instructor. Workshops typically include the use of some hand tools and a tape measure to solve a problem. School staff must chaperone student groups.

Events at PNCI
Several times a year, PNCI hosts evening and weekend events for students and their parents. Please sign up for our Educator Mailing list for notifications: bit.ly/PNCIteacher
